Rejecting Proposed Redistricting Map and Urging Preservation of Existing Boundaries of New York State 23rd Congressional District

Attached please find a copy of Allegany County Resolution No. 292-21 (Rejecting Proposed Redistricting Map and Urging Preservation of Existing Boundaries of New York State 23rd Congressional District), which was adopted by the Legislative Board on November 8, 2021.

For the reasons outlined in the resolution, it is very important that the historical and traditional Southern Tier Congressional District boundaries keep the Southern Tier counties together along the I-86 corridor.  We urge Allegany County citizens to go to the New York State Independent Redistricting Commission website at www.nyirc.gov to implore the commission to keep our rural like-minded counties together.  You can leave comments by going to the “Participate” tab at the top of the web page.  We encourage you to explore the website where you can view previously recorded meetings and view the current maps and draft plans.

This is an important opportunity to impact Allegany County’s future, and we hope every citizen will take advantage of this opportunity and choose to participate.  Thank you.
