New Pilot “Go & Dine Program” at Office for the Aging is Looking for Establishments to Participate

The Allegany County Office for the Aging is seeking food service establishments in the Bolivar, Little Genesee, Ceres, and West Clarksville areas to participate in a pilot “Go & Dine Program” in Allegany County.  This program is a restaurant congregate dining program and is intended to be an extension of our congregate luncheon center program and is designed to provide older adults with the opportunity to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at a participating Allegany County restaurant.

This restaurant congregate dining program is meant to provide a new choice for individuals to eat well-balanced meals at their convenience.  Many participants wish to use their voucher with others such as friends, family, and neighbors, thereby helping to minimize the prevalence of social isolation.  This modernization decreases barriers to access, while increasing choice.  We anticipate this type of service will be very popular among both older adults and businesses.  For older adults, it provides a casual and self-driven experience, while local restaurants will benefit from an increased customer base and the opportunity to play a vital role in supporting an age-friendly community.

The list of participating restaurants is still in development and we are currently piloting the program with interested restaurants in the Bolivar, Little Genesee, Ceres, and West Clarksville areas.  As the program develops, we anticipate more dining options will be made available across other areas of Allegany County.

If you are interested in joining our list of participating restaurants or if you would like more information on this program, please call Crystal Malota, Nutrition Services Coordinator, at 585-268-9390 or toll free at 1-866-268-9390.
