Events for June 6, 2019
Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County, the Cornell Vegetable Team, and New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets for a training on understanding GAPs and how GAPs impact produce safety. Learn about Harmonized & Basic GAPs and how it applies to your farm operation. Day 2 – Begin writing a food safety plan that compiles with a USDA GAP Audit for your farm.
All produce farms are encouraged to complete GAPs training. Understanding Farm Food Safety regardless of buyers’ demands is the right thing for growers to do. A Farm Food Safety Plan helps growers follow Good Agricultural Practice whether or not a farm chooses to become certified.
The workshop will be Thursdays June 6 & 13, 2019 at the Genesee Valley Produce Auction – 8855 County Road 3 Centerville, NY 14029 from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Fee for this program is $25/Farm & $10/Additional Person. Lunch will be provided, space is limited and pre-registration is required by May 30th. For more information or to pre-register contact Lynn Bliven at 585-268-7644 ext. 18 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
