Belmont, NY, May 23 – The Allegany County Board of Legislators voted unanimously in favor of appointing Mr. Tim Boyde to the position of Allegany County Administrator. The appointment will be effective on Monday, June 6, 2016.
Mr. Boyde, who currently resides in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, but will be relocating to Allegany County, holds a Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. From 1984 through 2002, Mr. Boyde was employed by the Centre County, Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health, beginning his career as a Mental Health Caseworker and ending his tenure at that agency as its Administrator where he supervised a workforce of over 50 employees and managed a multi-million dollar budget. In 2003 and 2004, Mr. Boyde was the Executive Director of a private, non-profit agency in Central Pennsylvania which was formed to deliver state governmental initiatives for behavioral health in five northeastern Pennsylvania counties. Between 2004 and 2010, Mr. Boyde served as the County Administrator for Centre County, Pennsylvania. He left this position in 2010 to serve as the County Administrator for Jefferson County, West Virginia; and in 2012, Mr. Boyde returned to Centre County, Pennsylvania, where he again served as its County Administrator until 2015.
Mr. Boyde is expected to assume his duties as Allegany County Administrator, County Budget Officer, and County Auditor on Monday, June 6, 2016. “We were deliberate in the process of filling the position of County Administrator conducting several interviews beyond the initial reviews done in going through the list of applicants.” said Curt Crandall Chairman of the Board of Legislators. Adding, “The Board looks forward to working with Mr. Boyde, and putting his experience in county government to work here in Allegany County.” The process of recruiting the new Allegany County Administrator was overseen by the Board of Legislators and conducted by Mr. Dominic Mazza, former County Administrator for Livingston County, New York, now serving as a Consultant with The Bonadio Group of Rochester, New York.
Legislator Chuck Jessup who Chairs the Ways & Means Committee made the motion for Mr. Boyde’s appointment and said after the meeting, “We have numerous special projects we are working on at this time, beyond the day-to-day County business; Mr. Boyde will be busy for sure. His experience will come in handy; and, frankly, was one of the strengths taken into consideration for his appointment.”
After the passage of the Resolution which appointed him to his new position, Mr. Boyde took the floor and briefly addressed the Legislators, Department Heads, and others present stating that “he can’t wait to get to work and is looking forward to working with the Legislators, Department Heads, and dedicated employees of Allegany County.”
John Margeson who has been acting as Interim County Administrator will be working with Mr. Boyde for a short time as he transitions to Allegany County government. Mr. Margeson was County Administrator from 1992 until 2013.
