  1. Mr. Scholes spoke with the Committee concerning the 2012-2013 Solid Waste Residential Tags.  Mr. Scholes explained Tim Palmiter, Recycling Coordinator had introduced an idea the department would like to implement with the Residential Tag and free tire disposal.  In the past, the department has held dedicated “Free Tire Days” that allowed a tag holder to dispose of 4 tires at no cost.  Under the new system the Residential Tags would have (4)-“T’s” printed on the bottom of the tag to be punched out when the resident disposes their tires.  The department will only allow disposal at the County Landfill.  This new system will be more efficient, convenient and cost effective by reducing expenses related to Free Tire Days and by providing tag holders with more frequent opportunities to dispose of waste tires.  A motion was made by Legislator O’Grady and seconded by Legislator Curran and carried to implement the above changes to the Solid Waste Residential Tag beginning on April 1, 2012.
