Drilling in Marcellus Shale

Energy and Resources Ad Hoc Committee Chairman Kevin LaForge presented a resolution similar to one that the Board adopted in 2009 encouraging the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation to quickly complete its environmental review of natural gas drilling in the Marcellus shale and lifting of the drilling moratorium.   Legislator LaForge stated that he believes this is an issue the County should encourage, and he would like the resolution to come off the floor so that it can be included in NYSAC’s newsletter and considered at the next InterCounty Association meeting.  A motion was made by Legislator LaForge, seconded by Legislator Fanton and carried to sponsor the resolution.   Prepare Resolution  (Resolution to be taken off the floor and considered at the Board meeting this afternoon.)

Audit

Committee members reviewed the March 22, 2010, audit of claims in the amount of $4,016,446.53 (including prepaid bills).   A motion was made by Legislator Pullen, seconded by Legislator Sinclair and carried to forward the audit to the full Board for approval of payment.

Adjournment

There being no further business to come before the committee, a motion was made by Legislator O’Grady, seconded by Legislator Fanton and carried to adjourn the meeting at approximately 1:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
