REFERRALS FROM OTHER COMMITTEES:

Planning & Economic Development Committee

Employment and Training Director Jerry Garmong requested approval to fill a Summer Remedial Teacher/Counselor (Non Union) position at an hourly rate of $12.  Additional temporary staff is necessary to assist with instruction and supervision of approximately 80 disadvantaged youth to be employed at various worksites throughout the County.  Delivery and coordination of services will not function as efficiently or meet the requirements of the New York State Department of Labor without filling the position.  Mr. Garmong stated that they would most likely need to hire three to four of the Summer Remedial Teacher/Counselors.  The positions are federally funded, and Mr. Garmong assured committee members that he would only hire the number of positions that can be financed with grant funds.  The program usually serves about 65 to 100 youth.   They have about $60,000 left from 2009, and the total allocation is about $100,000 to $150,000 more than previous years.  The request to fill three to four positions was approved on a motion by Legislator Sinclair, seconded by Legislator Burdick, and carried.   Notify Human Resources

Audit

Committee members reviewed the February 22, 2010, audit of claims in the amount of $2,878,183.79 (including prepaid bills).   A motion was made by Legislator Pullen, seconded by Legislator Healy and carried to forward the audit to the full Board for approval of payment.

Adjournment

There being no further business to come before the committee, a motion was made by Legislator Fanton, seconded by Legislator Burdick and carried to adjourn the meeting at 1:07 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Brenda Rigby Riehle, Clerk of the Board
