Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 4:15 pm.

 

Approval of Minutes

The minutes of August 19, 2009 were approved with motions from Legislators Burdick and Reynolds.  Motions carried.

 

Social Services

The Department’s monthly report was provided for the committee’s information.

 

This department is requesting permission to fill two Social Welfare Examiner positions, one being a caseload examiner, and the other works in the HEAP program, and any positions that become vacant as a result of filling the positions.    Legislators Reynolds and Burdick made motions approving filling the positions.   Motions carried.   Ways and Means

 

It is also requested to fill a Caseworker position due to a retirement, and any vacancies that may occur as a result of filling the position.  Legislator Burdick moved to fill, with Legislator Reynolds seconding.   Motions carried.  Ways and Means

 

Office for the Aging

This office requests a resolution to increase revenue and expenditure accounts due to an increase in Federal funding totaling $1512.00.  Legislator Reynolds moved on the request, with Legislator Burdick seconding.  Motions carried.  Ways and Means

 

Ms. Gasdik provided the committee with the department’s monthly report.     There have been 660 case applications completed for the HEAP program in only 2 weeks.  The department is providing elder abuse training at banks, with three trainings completed to date.    A call was received involving an identity theft case where $1500 was taken from an individual’s account. 

 

Health Department

Ms. Ballengee reported that the department has depleted their flu vaccine supply and are awaiting delivery of more.    The H1N1 vaccine is expected by the end of October, with the first vaccine supplied as a mist.   There was mention of a reduced charge for EMTs.   Each ambulance Corp should provide a list of those individuals who would want the inoculation.  Ms. Ballengee will speak to Mike Barney regarding this.

 

The Department requests permission to enter into a contract with Friendship Central School and Pathways, Inc. to provide special education services to preschoolers with disabilities.     Legislators Reynolds and Burdick moved to approve these contracts.  Motions carried.  Resolution
