Cornell Cooperative Extension will be offering a series of field days to aide in understanding how to determine quality and grade of agricultural products. These sessions are designed to prepare farms in NY, both beginning and experienced, to enter new markets.
We will be at Lucky Acres Farm located at 8828A Jackson Hill Rd, Friendship NY on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 9-11 am. Learning how to handled beef cattle for health of animals and quality meat production. Some best management tips and hands-on skills will be demonstrated including proper restraints, castrations, and vaccination techniques. We will also discuss marketing strategies for cattle as well as harvesting, packaging, and marketing strategies for beef products.
This meeting will also serve as a BQA recertification.
Fee is $10/person or $15/farm, pre-registration is requested by November 1, 2017. Active or retired NYS Military Veterans may apply for stipend to cover cost of attending.
