This year’s theme for Allegany County’s History Awareness Week is the Civil War. Events are listed below – Most are free but donations will be accepted.
Tuesday, September 26th: Kick off reception at 7 pm
Wednesday, September 27th: Battle of Gettysburg presented by Col. Tom Vossler at 7:30 pm
Thursday, September 28th: Battle of Chanellorsville presented by Dr. Chris Mankowski at 7:30 pm
Friday, September 29th: A Talk About Civil War Medicine presented by Dr. Spencer Annabel at 7:30 pm
Exhibits will be open to the public from 9 am to 7 pm Wednesday and Thursday, from 9 am to 5 pm Friday, and from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday.Find out more »
You are cordially invited to attend the 4th Annual Allegany County Farmer Neighbor Dinner to be held Wednesday September 27, 2017 at the Lake Lodge located at 6107 Terbury Road in Alfred Station.
The evening hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Allegany County, Soil & Water Conservation District, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency & Farm Bureau will begin at 5:30 pm with a Taste of Local Farms and Agricultural Business Exhibits. A great opportunity to browse while engaging with members of the farming community.
You will experience a gourmet dinner featuring locally grown and raised products exquisitely prepared by ACES Catering. Followed by our keynote speaker, Dr. Allison Chatrchyan presenting Climate Smart Farming – A look at resources avaialable to enhance adaptability to more extreme and variable weather, increasing resiliency and sustainability.
