Baskets or Pallets: Producing and Selling Quality Sheep

Cornell Cooperative Extension will be offering another of our field days, part of the series to aide in understanding how to determine quality and grade of agricultural products. These sessions are designed to prepare farms in NY, both beginning and experienced, to enter new markets.
We will be at Wild Geese Farm in Rushford, NY on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 9-11 am. Learning how to handled sheep for health of animals and quality meat production. Some best management tips and hands-on skills will be demonstrated including proper restraints, hoof trimming, shearing, and vaccination techniques. We will also discuss marketing strategies for sheep or fiber as well as harvesting, packaging, and marketing strategies for lamb products.
Fee is $10/person or $15/farm, pre-registration is requested by November 16, 2017. Active or retired NYS Military Veterans may apply for stipend to cover cost of attending.
