County Soil and Water
Allegany County Soil & Water Conservation District is a special purpose
district of the State of New York serving Allegany County. Allegany County
S&WCD is one of 58 soil conservation districts in New York State. The
District works in cooperation with the State Soil Conservation Committee,
Allegany County, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Allegany County. In addition to working with local,

ALLEGANY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY is an
Educational Corporation chartered by the Board of Regents, NY State
Education Department.
Ron Taylor is webmaster of the Society website
where you can view much historical content, conduct research, read the
Constitution & By-Laws, and print an application for membership. The
Society operates a History and Genealogical Research Center on the second
floor of David A. Howe Public Library, 155 N. Main Street, Wellsville NY.
The Center has hours Thursdays from 10:00am to 4:00pm and by appointment.
A Society Museum for the county is in future plans and expanded hours will
be announced. The Corporation is a 501(c)3 IRS approved non-profit
organization seeking tax deductible donations, gifts and memorials.
