Welcome to the new Allegany County website. Our site is your one-stop spot for news and information regarding all things happening in our great part of New York State.

Located in the beautiful Southern Tier region, Allegany County has approximately 49,000 residents who enjoy a relaxed way of life in a rural setting. Great recreational activities like hunting, skiing, hiking and more can be enjoyed by any outdoor enthusiast in our county’s beautiful rolling hills. Our charming communities feature great local restaurants, and shops that offer unique retail experiences. Events like the Great Wellsville Balloon Rally, Allegany County Fair, and the Ridgewalk and Run bring thousands of visitors to the area and are just a few examples of our great county celebrations you can’t find anywhere else. And, if you enjoy the performing arts, come to Open Mic Night at the Wellsville Creative Arts Center or catch a great play or concert at Alfred University or Houghton College, two of the county’s top universities.
